Keyboard and canvas controls

Applies to SiliconForge 0.1.2 · Updated . Check platform limits.

Before this task: Identify the view and selected design scope →

Keyboard commands follow focus. A canvas command is not a source-editing command, and copying an object's details is not copying circuitry.

Check focus and custom bindings

Open a project with a current Design view and click the canvas before using its shortcuts. Defaults below describe supported canvas actions; availability depends on the active view and selection. The action menu/tooltip and your configured binding are authoritative.

Open source files with the keyboard

Ctrl+Shift+E opens the native Project files view and focuses its file tree. The same action is in the application menu. Use arrow keys to choose a file, then Enter to open it. Explicitly opening a source file moves focus to its editor. Ctrl+S saves an editable document; subscription and original-file checks still apply. The shortcut itself does not edit, run or approve anything. Ctrl+B only toggles the project navigator's visibility.

Canvas defaults

KeyAction
Ctrl+FFind objects
F3 / Shift+F3Next / previous search result
FFit all for an overview
HomeReadable view
Shift+FFit selection
Ctrl+0100% zoom
+ / = / -Zoom in / out
Alt+Left / Alt+RightBack / forward
Alt+UpUp a scope
Ctrl+EProperties
Shift+F10Context menu
Ctrl+ASelect visible objects

In Architecture, Alt+Down enters the selected block. Ctrl-click toggles selection and Shift-click adds to it in supported selection modes. Use the visible action when an OS/window-manager shortcut intercepts a key.

Layout and annotation commands

Architecture provides Copy details (Ctrl+C), Paste annotation (Ctrl+V), Undo layout (Ctrl+Z) and Redo layout (Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y). F2 edits an annotation and Delete deletes annotations only. These do not provide unrestricted hardware copy/paste, delete RTL blocks or undo a Git commit. Text editors retain their normal copy/paste behavior when focused.

Application menu and checks

F10 opens the application menu. Use arrow keys and Enter to choose an action, or Escape to close it. Ctrl+Alt+V opens Configure checks for the current project. Opening this setup dialog does not run tools or approve changes.

Assistant and settings

  • Ctrl+L: focus the assistant composer.
  • Shift+Tab: Plan control in the composer context.
  • Ctrl+Shift+N: new chat; Ctrl+Shift+H: history.
  • Ctrl+,: Settings.
  • Escape: stop or close the current popup, depending on active state.
  • With Enter sends; Shift+Enter creates a new line enabled in Assistant & models, those keys follow that composer preference.

Stopping a request does not roll back an applied change. Check assistant recovery before retrying interrupted work.

Adjust controls and verify them

  1. Open Settings → Appearance → Architecture interactions and shortcuts….
  2. Review or adjust the relevant binding without colliding with global application shortcuts.
  3. Return to the intended view, focus it and test one action on a disposable project.
  4. For example, select a block, use Fit selection, enter its scope, then use Back. Confirm the same instance and scope return.

Expected result: predictable focus-aware navigation without unintended source changes. If a key does the wrong thing, record the focused widget, modifiers, active view and configured binding. Do not repeatedly press a destructive-looking shortcut to discover its meaning.
